Social activist B K Goyal no more

BANGALORE: Noted businessman and social activist B K Goyal passed away following a massive cardiac arrest, late on Friday night. He was 68 and is is survived by wife Usha Goyal and two sons.
Goyal was actively involved in bringing many changes in the business community in the Central Business District (CBD) and emerged as the voice of the traders in ensuring proper co-ordination between various government agencies and the trade bodies.
He was instrumental in coercing the BBMP in taking up several projects in the CDB region besides offering to partner with it in solving civic issues in the region.
He was also the president of the Central Bangalore Traders’ Association and the chief of the coordination committee dealing with various trade bodies at the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI).
Goyal had played a key role in convincing the Commercial Tax Department to give clarifications in the yet-to-be-launched column ‘Ask CTC’ in The New Indian Express to help business and trade community to clear doubts on various initiatives taken up by the Commercial Tax Department.
President of the Karnataka Hosiery and Garment Association Sajjan Rai Mehta, FKCCI and various other trade associations have condoled the death of Goyal.
