All the city’s a garbage dump..NEWS IN TIMES OF INDIA. ON 6.9.12.PG.4 A fortnight after the waste disposal crisis hit Bangalore, and a week after BBMP commissioner Rajneesh Goel took over, the metro has turned into Garbage City. Our photographers capture the festering mess on Wednesday 10.30am Gandhinagar Gandhinagar constituency, part of the extended business hub of Chickpet and Majestic areas, was chosen for zero-waste management in 2009. Businessman Sajjan Raj Mehta points out that the stench virtually chases shoppers out of Mamoolpet and Arcot Srinivasachar Street in Chickpet. "We need a permanent solution for the garbage menace. It affects our business, especially when it rains, as the dirt gets mixed with rain water and blocks drains," Mehta says.
